In Of Cages and Feathers, renowned German photographer Kristin Schnell explores the global decline of bird populations through a powerful and artistic photography project. After moving from Berlin to the countryside of northern Germany, she creates a photography studio inside her aviary, capturing birds interacting with colorful flowers, mirrors, and natural light.

The resulting images highlight the beauty of birds while reflecting deeper themes about nature, human connection, and environmental change. Inspired by jazz legend Charlie Parker, the photographs combine vibrant colors, movement, and artistic composition.
